The Dungeon Fee at Tarn Crag
Sail to Tarn Crag (2–4 passages away)1 Locate the siege engine walled up in the dungeon beneath Tarn Crag.
Tarn Crag is a fortress perched on a rock spire, with a dungeon entrance at its base where a steward collects fees at a table. "Forty silver to enter the dungeon. Whatever salvage you haul up is yours, minus the lord's tenth." Around the back of the crag, however, your lookout spots an unguarded drainage tunnel wide enough for your crew.
- Pay the 40-silver entry fee and go down through the main dungeon door.Costs 40 silverLandfall: The Dungeon of Tarn Crag
- Sneak in through the back drainage tunnel without paying.Landfall: The Drain Under Tarn Crag
- Leave it for now.The steward returns to his cold tea while you pull back from the crag.
Behind the New Brick Wall
Right away2 Settle accounts with the steward for the discovered siege engine.
The mason's tip was true. Behind a fresh brick wall in the dungeon sits a siege stone-thrower as long as a wagon, its throwing arm folded and a carved granite boulder still resting in its sling. When you report it, the steward eyes the entry ledger. "That's worth far more than a tenth—but my lord never wanted it found. He'll let you buy it outright to get it off the crag."
- Buy the siege engine outright from the steward. (50 silver)Costs 50 silverHe signs a formal bill of sale on the dungeon table. Your crew hauls the stone-thrower up in three heavy crates; now you just need a mason's yard across the border to mount it on your deck.
- [Stone mage] Fire the engine underground to scare the steward into giving it away.Crew: Stone caster · Magecrewmate awakens the stone-thrower's mechanism with a touch, hurling its granite boulder clean through the far dungeon wall. Rattled, the steward signs the engine over to you for free just to get it out of the keep today.−15 mana (the crewmate who acted)
- Leave the siege engine behind and take a 30-silver finder's fee to keep quiet. The steward pays you thirty silver from his fee box and immediately summons masons to brick the wall shut again before nightfall.+30 silver
Smuggled Out the Drain
Right away3 Decide what to do with the stolen siege engine.
The mason's tip was true. Behind a fresh brick wall sat a siege stone-thrower as long as a wagon. Your crew disassembles it into three pieces and hauls it out through the drainage tunnel under cover of night—but at dawn, alarm horns blare from the keep above. Someone has discovered the broken wall.
- Make a run for the border with the stolen siege engine. You lift off from the crag with alarm horns echoing behind you. The lord's herald will hunt your ship all the way across the border.+2 heat

The Lord's Son
Right away4When your crew goes to load the three crated pieces, a young nobleman in a fine coat is sitting atop them: Corvin Tarn, the lord's son. "My father bricked this engine up the year I came of age. I've wanted it for twenty years, and now you have the legal right to sell it. Sell it to me—I'll pay more than any shipyard across the border."
- Sell it to him.He pumps your hand eagerly, and his men immediately load the crates onto a wagon they already had waiting at the foot of the stairs.
- Refuse his offer and haul the engine to a shipyard across the border. He steps off the crates with a polite nod. "Then may it shoot straight for you," he says, watching wistfully as your crew loads it into the hold.

An Offer at the Drain Mouth
Right away5At the foot of the crag, a young nobleman in mud-splattered boots steps out of the drainage tunnel: Corvin Tarn, the lord's son. "You found the siege engine and left it behind. Good—my father can't sell what goes missing tonight. Before his masons brick it back up, haul it out through this drain for me, and I'll pay you far better than his steward did."
- Sneak back down the drain tonight and haul the engine out for the lord's son. With Corvin Tarn holding the lantern himself, your crew hauls the engine out in three pieces. By the time the keep's masons notice the missing bricks at dawn, the weapon is hidden in his barn.
