The Hermit Ledge
Sail to The Hermit Ledge (1–3 passages away)1 Track down the accused oath-breaker Oren Whitepinion at the Hermit Ledge.
A damaged warbird skiff rests on the cliff ledge with one wing-spar in splints. An Avian officer in a second-in-command's harness is lashing a replacement spar into place alone. He glances up at your guns and keeps working. "So the elders hired an outside ship. Before you haul me to the judging stone, ask me what that raid was actually targeting."
- Land on the ledge and hear his side of the story.Keeping his hands busy with the rope lashings, he tells you what happened—though he clearly doesn't expect a bounty hunter to care.
- [Avian] Send crewmate down to greet him by clan custom and hear his story.Crew: Aviancrewmate lands beside him and offers a flask of water before speaking a word. Oren drinks, tells the whole story plainly, and marks his former squadron's patrol routes on your chart.Reveal 2 waypoints

The Truth of the Raid
Right away2"War-leader Sigrun Ashcrest led our squadron against a lowland logging camp at night," Oren explains. "She ordered us to firebomb the bunkhouses while the loggers were asleep inside. I refused and pulled my half of the squadron back. Three flyers followed her in anyway and were shot down by the camp's anti-air battery. Now she blames me for their deaths."
A hunting horn echoes upwind as two clan warbirds dive fast along the cliff face. "That's my old squadron—and Sigrun didn't send them to bring me back alive."

The Prisoner's Warning
Right away3Oren sits shackled in your hold with his wings strapped flat. "Ask me what that raid was really for," he tells every guard who brings him water.
Up above, your lookout calls down: a heavy warbird flying a war-leader's red pennant has been shadowing you for an hour and is now signaling a parley—offering more silver than the bounty poster if you hand Oren over right now.

- Ignore the shadowing warbird and fly Oren straight to the judging stone. You hold your course. The warbird with the red pennant falls back slightly, continuing to shadow you.
- Go down to the brig and ask Oren what happened on the raid.He tells you plainly: War-leader Sigrun Ashcrest ordered a night firebombing on sleeping loggers in their bunkhouses. Oren refused and pulled his half of the squadron out, while three flyers who obeyed her were killed by the camp's guns. "She put the bounty on me before I could reach the elders to report her."
- Heave to and hear the war-leader's offer. She brings her warbird alongside your hull and steps onto your deck holding a heavy purse of silver.
The Judging Stone
At a port4 Deliver Oren Whitepinion to the clan elders at the judging stone.
High above the port, the clan elders sit in a circle around a flat gray judging stone, with War-leader Sigrun Ashcrest standing at their right hand. Your crew march Oren into the center of the ring. The eldest matriarch looks to you: "If the captain who brought him has anything to report, speak now. Otherwise, collect your bounty and go."
- Say nothing—hand Oren over and collect the bounty.A clan paymaster counts your silver onto the stone. Oren doesn't look back as Ashcrest steps forward to deliver a damning, unchallenged accusation.+1 The Clans standingThe questline ends here.
- Testify before the elders about Ashcrest's order to burn the sleeping loggers. You state the facts plainly: the night raid, the order to burn the sleeping bunkhouses, and why Oren pulled his flyers back. The hall goes dead silent as the eldest matriarch slowly turns her gaze on Ashcrest.
- Bring forward Oren's captured wingmates to testify against War-leader Ashcrest. Two flyers from Ashcrest's own squadron step forward and confirm that she ordered them to burn sleeping civilians. Stripping Ashcrest of her command pennant on the spot, the elders pay your full bounty and have their shipwrights repair your hull in gratitude.+2 The Clans standing+6 hullThe questline ends here.
Witnesses to the Order
Right away5The cliff ledge falls quiet. One warbird lies wrecked on the rocks below, while the captured crew of the second sit disarmed on the stone. Oren studies his former wingmates. "They heard Sigrun's unlawful order too, and they're willing to testify at the judging stone if you carry us there. Or you can leave me here in exile—the clan won't hunt a man they believe died on the rocks."

War-Leader Ashcrest
Right away6War-leader Sigrun Ashcrest is a tall, iron-gray Avian with a commanding voice. "The clan elders posted Oren alive so they can listen to his excuses at the judging stone. I'm paying more to have him silenced. Hand him over now, and tell the world you never found him." Behind her, her gunners stand at the ready.
- Take Ashcrest's silver bribe and hand Oren over to her.Two of her warriors drag Oren across the rail without a word, and she tosses you a heavy purse. By the time you reach the next port, every clan roost along the skyway knows your ship sold out a prisoner before trial.+100 silver−1 The Clans standingThe questline ends here.

Trial by Combat
Right away7Ashcrest doesn't deny giving the order. "A squadron obeys its commander! He broke formation, and three of ours died! If this outsider's word challenges mine, let our ships settle it in the sky!" The eldest nods—under clan law, Ashcrest has the right to trial by combat over the stone.
Oren glances at you. "You don't owe me your ship, Captain. You can still take your silver and walk away."
