The Drum-Maker
At the delivery port1 Deliver the rolled skywyrm drumskin.
You deliver the drumskin to Brannoch Stonepaw, an ursine craftsman as broad as his workshop doorway. He unrolls the thick hide over an unfinished drum frame. "Cured skywyrm belly-hide. The only rim that can tension it is a hoop of storm-copper—and that hoop has hung in rival Longhowl Hall ever since my great-grandfather lost a clan feud. With that copper hoop fitted, this drum can command lightning in midair."
- Offer to fly up to Longhowl Hall and win back the storm-copper hoop."The Lupines will never sell a feud trophy," Brannoch warns you, "but their chief might let you win it in a trial." He marks Longhowl Hall on your chart.
- [Ursine] Have crewmate ask how the feud with Longhowl Hall began.Crew: Ursinecrewmate listens to the full history of the feud until the hearth fire burns low. Clan Guest-Right
Right away2Brannoch walks you down to the dock. "The Lupines of Longhowl take guest-right seriously. Arrive bearing a proper guest-gift, and their chief is bound to feast you, hear your petition, and perhaps settle for a friendly wager. Arrive empty-handed, and he owes you nothing but a bowl of broth and a hard fight."
- Buy a cask of honey mead in the market as a guest-gift. (15 silver)Costs 15 silverBrannoch personally selects the finest cask in the market and loads it into your hold.
- Since you already have Brannoch's mead, ask him about Chief Varric Longhowl's weaknesses.Brannoch tells you that Chief Varric is proud of his warbird and can never resist a bold wager, then marks the safest storm lanes through Thunder Pass on your chart.Reveal 2 waypoints
- [Quartermaster] Have crewmate pick out a rare delicacy in the market for the hall.Crew: Quartermastercrewmate skips the expensive mead and buys a crate of smoked lowland eel—a delicacy no mountain hall has tasted since autumn—with enough left over to add a crate of provisions to your own stores.+1 provisions

Longhowl Hall
Sail to Longhowl Hall (2–4 passages away)3 Win the storm-copper hoop from Chief Varric at Longhowl Hall.
Longhowl Hall is carved into a jagged spire overlooking Thunder Pass. Hanging above the chieftain's high seat is the green-patinaed hoop of storm-copper. After feeding your crew according to guest-right, Chief Varric Longhowl hears your request. "Hospitality buys you a meal and a bunk, Captain, not a clan trophy. If you want that copper hoop, win it: fight my warbird in Thunder Pass while the lightning is striking!"
- Accept the trial by combat and fight his warbird in the lightning storm!Chief Varric's warbird launches into the pass as the first bolt of lightning splits the clouds!Battle: Clan warbird · Thunderstorm

- Present your guest-gift to the hall and propose a non-lethal storm race instead of combat.Your gift puts the whole hall in high spirits, and by the second round of drinks Chief Varric agrees to a race through the lightning pass to the far cairn with guns lashed shut. A stray bolt scorches your rail, but you round the cairn a ship's length ahead to win the hoop!−2 hull
- [Chiropteran or Vulpine] Have crewmate steal the copper hoop off the wall while the hall sleeps.Crew: Chiropteran / Vulpinecrewmate slips the copper hoop off its peg in the dead of night and sneaks it aboard before dawn. - Leave it for now.You thank the chief for his hospitality and leave the copper hoop hanging on its peg for now.
Ending the Feud
Right away4Chief Varric lays the storm-copper hoop on the feast table before you. "You won it fairly. But a feud takes two halls to end. If Brannoch Stonepaw finishes his drum with our copper and hides behind his walls, our blood-feud continues. If he brings the finished drum up the pass himself and strikes it once at my gate, the feud is over. What word do you bring back from him?"
- Promise to persuade Brannoch to bring the drum up to Longhowl Hall and end the feud.Chief Varric sends you off with the copper hoop and three crates of feast provisions. Back at port, Brannoch grumbles for a full day over his pride before hiring a barge to carry him and the drum up the pass.+3 provisions+1 The Clans standing
- Tell Varric the hoop was won fair and square, with no strings attached.Varric nods coldly. "Then the feud remains on his head." You carry the copper hoop down the pass while Longhowl Hall bars its gates behind you.−1 The Clans standing
Tainted Copper
Right away5 Decide what to do with the stolen storm-copper hoop.
News of broken guest-right travels faster than any airship. When you meet Brannoch on a mountain ledge, he takes one look at the hoop and refuses to touch it. "You stole that under a host's roof after eating his bread! I won't hang dishonored copper in my hall or stretch my hide over it." He stalks away, leaving you with a crackling ring of enchanted storm-copper.
- Have your own crew bolt the copper hoop to your mast as a lightning ground.Without the drumhead it cannot deflect storms, but wired to your mast and gun deck, the copper hoop channels lightning strikes into your batteries.Fitting: Grounding MastThe questline ends here.
- Sell the enchanted storm-copper hoop to a Crown weather station. (110 silver)A Crown weather surveyor eagerly pays one hundred and ten silver for the rare artifact and logs it as 'salvaged'.+110 silver+1 The Crown standingThe questline ends here.
The Thunder Drum Completed
Right away6 Watch Brannoch strike the finished Thunder Drum at Longhowl's gate.
Brannoch arrives at the gates of Longhowl Hall with the drum frame on his back, hammers the storm-copper hoop into place, and strikes a single mighty boom that turns a lightning bolt aside over the pass. With the century-old feud finally ended, Brannoch turns to you. "A drum like this was made to fly in the storms, not sit under a hall roof. Mount the drum at your masthead—or take me aboard with the copper hoop wired to your guns."
- Mount the completed Thunder Drum at your masthead to deflect lightning onto enemies.Lashed to your masthead, the Thunder Drum hums whenever a storm rolls in, turning incoming lightning strikes away from your hull and onto enemy ships.Relic: Storm CrownThe questline ends here.

A Drum Kept Indoors
Right away7In his courtyard, Brannoch hammers the storm-copper hoop over the wyrm-hide drumhead and strikes it once. The boom echoes up into the clouds, deflecting a distant bolt of lightning in midair. "A thunder drum belongs in the open sky," Brannoch admits grimly, "but as long as the feud with Longhowl stands, I cannot fly it without starting a war. My pride costs me the sky—so I will pay you for your work."
