The Chemist
Right away2Leofric Mote is a small, trembling chemist clutching a leather satchel to his chest. "It was only meant to sicken them!" he blurts out before you even ask. "A week of stomach cramps so the miners would abandon the crystal seam! I measured the dose for twenty-foot wells—nobody told me they dug them deeper!" He pulls a sealed document from his satchel. "Agent Lambert Kemble hired me—here's his signed order and seal. He owns the mining claim under Camp Seven, and he sent that sloop to shut my mouth."
- Lock Mote in the brig and deliver him to the Guild district office for the bounty.Mote nods frantically in relief. "A Guild cell. Yes. A cell has strong walls."
- Take Mote to Camp Seven first to face the miners and purify the wells.Mote turns pale, then slowly nods. "The wells can still be neutralized. I'm the only one who knows what chemical will bind the poison."
- Force Mote to lead you straight to Agent Kemble's ship.Mote eagerly hands over Kemble's written order. "He's anchored at the claim office dock in an armed tender. Once he hears his corsair failed, he'll be ready for trouble."
The District Office
At a port3 Deliver Leofric Mote to the Guild's district office at port.
The Guild district clerk has a cell and an intake form waiting. He reads out the charge—nine dead at Camp Seven—and has Mote sign the confession. "And who paid you to poison the wells?" the clerk asks, holding his pen ready.
- Collect the standard bounty for Mote and say nothing else. Before Mote can speak a name, the clerk closes the register, pays your bounty from a locked drawer, and wishes you fair winds.+1 The Guild standingThe questline ends here.

The Third Well
Sail to Camp Seven (1–2 passages away)4 Bring Leofric Mote to the miners at Camp Seven.
Camp Seven is a settlement of forty huts built by freed prisoners over a newly rich crystal seam. Nine fresh graves sit beside three boarded-up wells. The camp's speaker, an old Lupine woman named Sunniva Noll, stares coldly at Mote. "When we heard about the bounty poster, we took a vote. Half the camp wants to hang him right now. The other half wants our water fixed first. I hold the tie-breaking vote—what do you say, Captain?"
- Force Mote to purify the wells under guard, then take him to the Guild for the bounty.Working under armed guard for two days with quicklime and boiling pans, Mote neutralizes the toxin in all three wells. - Give up the Guild bounty and leave Mote in the camp's hands.Noll casts her vote: Mote purifies the wells, re-digs the nine graves deeper, and remains at the camp under permanent watch—since a live chemist is worth more to a mining seam than a corpse on a rope. Noll pays you in uncut crystal ore and silver.+10 crystal+30 silver−1 The Guild standingThe questline ends here.

Whatever the Guild poster pays for that wretch, I'll beat it—and you can keep the document he stole as a souvenir. I just want him silenced."

Kemble Defeated
