7 scenes. Choices with a requirement only appear when you meet it.

The Master Shipwright

At the delivery port1
Deliver the black-waxed crate to the Free Muster naval yard.
Master Shipwright Brannoc Thole cracks the black wax seal himself, revealing shed skywyrm scales as wide as shields packed in straw. "A hull armored with dragonscale deflects one cannon shot in five," he says. "This crate is only half a hull's worth. The skywyrm that shed them dens on a storm-lashed cliff east of here—and a Crown Admiralty hunter cutter is already heading there to claim the rest."
  • Volunteer to fly to the wyrm's cliff and gather the remaining scales.
He chalks the skywyrm's cliffside den and the Crown hunter's patrol station onto your chart.
  • Take your delivery pay and leave.
He pays you twenty silver for delivering the crate with its seal unbroken and returns to his drydock.

Outfitting at the Slipway

Right away2
Prepare your ship at the naval yard before flying to the wyrm's ledge.
Thole walks you past the bare ribs of the Free Muster's new flagship. "That gale-swept ledge has wrecked better ships than yours. Before you cast off, I have time to offer you one advantage: our yard's heavy gale-lines and cargo nets, your twenty-five-silver delivery pay plus two crates of rations, or a full tactical briefing on the Crown hunter cutter."
  • Borrow the shipyard's heavy gale-lines and cargo nets.
Thole's riggers load two hundred fathoms of tarred cable and a heavy-duty cargo net onto your deck, showing your crew how to trawl the cliffside in a gale.
  • Take the 25 silver pay and 2 crates of rations.
The yard paymaster hands over twenty-five silver and sends two crates of salt pork and biscuit down to your galley.

The Shedding Ledge

Sail to The Wyrm's Shedding Ledge (2–4 passages away)3
Find the skywyrm's cliffside den and gather its shed scales.
Curled gray dragonscales carpet the wind-lashed cliff ledge like giant roof slates. At the back of the cavern, a massive skywyrm lies half-molted and foul-tempered—while downwind, a Crown Admiralty hunter cutter is fighting its way up through the gale toward the same ledge.
  • Fly in and fight the skywyrm for the scales.
Trailing ribbons of shed skin, the skywyrm launches off the cliff ledge straight at your ship!

  • [Avian] Send crewmate gliding down on the gale to bag the scales quietly.
    Crew: Avian
crewmate rides the downdraft onto the ledge, fills two cargo nets with shed scales while the molting wyrm scratches its back against the rock, and is winched safely back aboard.
  • Trawl the ledge with the shipyard's heavy net while the wyrm sleeps.
  • Wait for the Crown hunter cutter to fight the wyrm first, then ambush the survivor.
You hold back while the skywyrm savages the Crown cutter before retreating into its cave. Crippled and limping away with a hold full of scales, the battered Admiralty cutter is easy prey.

A Hold Full of Dragonscale

Right away4
Decide whether to deliver the dragonscales to the Free Muster or sell them to the Crown.
Your cargo hold is now packed with enough shed dragonscale to armor a ship's waterline. Shipwright Thole is waiting for them at the Free Muster war yard to armor the fleet's flagship—but at the edge of the gale, a Crown Admiralty ship is flashing a signal lantern offering to buy dragonscale for gold or dockyard work.
  • Set course for the Free Muster war yard as promised.
Ignoring the Crown signal lantern, you steer back toward Brannoc Thole's slipway.
  • Signal the Crown Admiralty vessel and sell the scales to them.
An Admiralty supply cutter comes alongside with her gunports closed and her pay chest open.

The Crippled Hunter

Right away5
Deal with the crippled Crown hunter cutter.
The battered Crown cutter surrenders, her hold packed with dragonscales and her bleeding captain leaning against the rail. "Those scales were gathered under an official Admiralty purchase order," she gasps. "Tow my ship to the Crown signal ship outside the gale, and I'll vouch that you rescued me and pay you in gold—or rob me here and be hunted as a pirate in every Crown port."
  • Plunder the dragonscales from her hold and leave her adrift.
Your crew haul the nets of shed scales across to your hold in the howling wind, leaving the crippled cutter behind.
  • Seize both the dragonscales and her blank Admiralty purchase order.
Along with the scales, you seize her stamped Admiralty purchase order—blank where the carrier's name goes, giving your ship a set of official pass papers.

  • Take her under tow to the Crown signal ship to sell the scales legally.
You pass a tow cable across to her bow, and the Crown signal ship at the edge of the gale flashes an immediate reply.

Armor for the Fleet

At a port6
Return the dragonscales to Brannoc Thole at the Free Muster war yard.
Thole lays the overlapping dragonscales along the slipway. "Enough for one full armored belt. Our flagship is sailing for the Breakwater with four hundred sailors aboard—or I can bolt this dragonscale belt onto your own hull. As master shipwright, I'll fit it wherever you say."
  • Bolt the dragonscale armor onto the your ship.
Working through the night, his crew rivet the dragonscale belt along your waterline—giving your hull a one-in-five chance to deflect incoming cannon fire, though the flagship sails without it.

Admiralty Gold

Right away7
Settle your payment with the Crown Admiralty buyer.
A Crown naval commander weighs the dragonscales on a balance beam right on his rolling deck. "A full load, just as we hoped. Take a hundred and forty silver in Crown coin, or let our naval dockyard double-plank your hull and pay you forty silver."
  • Take the 140 silver payout.
